5th International Symposium-Workshop on Frugivores and Seed Dispersal (1985-2010)
Emin Pounched rat is not much well known as frugivore. But one may keep one on a leash when crossing some mined land in Central Africa. Even if the don't (yet) save seeds from dessication, fungi or other invertebrates or vertebrate predators, they may however save the life of many Human beings in Africa. For this, they have been considered Hero of the Planet. Thus, Emin rat is the frugivore of the month. In the rainforest however, it is also considered a valuable bush meat when everything else disappeared. Thus, they are often highly threatened, not yet to extinction. On the long term, who knows what will be the consequences of lacking Hero-Rat for the conservation of African rainforest diversity ?
