Dealing with Diversity at BES-TEG meeting in Nottingham, UK

The BES Tropical Ecology Group meeting and workshop will be held between 7-9th April 2010, at University of Nottingham. Plenary speakers are Anne Chao, Owen Lewis and Francis Gilbert. As 2010 is the IUCN International Year of Biodiversity, the Annual Meeting will focus on description and analysis of hyper-diverse communities. The first two days (7-8th April) comprise our 4th annual Early-Career Researchers meeting. We will accept talks or posters on the meeting theme or any topic within tropical ecology, with priority given to PhD students or post-doctoral researchers. We will also have a poster session, sponsored by Journal of Tropical Ecology, and a meeting dinner with live Congolese music. This will be followed on 9th April by a one-day workshop introducing techniques for diversity analysis at local and regional scales. Anne Chao and Richard Field will each run sessions, to which delegates are encouraged to bring their own data. British students can apply for a discount from BES, while students from developing countries can apply for additional assistance towards travel costs provided by the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC). If you would like to apply for a grant then please contact the organisers in advance. Announcement and PDF. FaceBook BESTEG.
