5th International Symposium-Workshop on Frugivores and Seed Dispersal (1985-2010)
The FSD2010 logo was prepared by Erin Kuprewicz, Ph. D candidate at University of Miami, Florida.
After being held in the tropics (Veracruz, Mexico) and sub tropics (Rio Grande do sul, Brazil; Southern Queensland, Australia), FSD2010 will be in the temperates, in a mediterrranean environment, Southern Europe. Because frugivory and seed dispersal is not constrained by latitude, a logo was designed to put emphasis on plants and animals that occur within and outside the tropics. Erin Kuprewicz's logo presents an oak (Quercus sp.) tree, Florida Scrub Jay (Aphelocoma coerulescens), Eurasian Jay (Garrulus glandarius), Agouti (Dasyprocta punctata), Apodemus sp., and Sus scrofa. Note that the light green foliage of the tree matches the Herault map, the dark green being the Mediterranean Sea.
Erin Kuprewicz also designed the ATBC2008.org logo
Birds (left) are trumpeters (Psophia crepitans) from Brownsberg Natural Park as well as the understory unidentified melastom plant with blue fruit (right). Blue berry fruit (center) are from the 20-m Silver Quandong tree (Elaeocarpus augustifolius) which are consumed by cassowary (Casuarius casuarius) that disperse seeds in Australia tropical rainforest.
